Default Can I run Mac OSX 10.5 on an IBM PC configuation?

Hello everyone,
I need to develop for the IPhone but have have only IBM PC boxes under my possession.
I have read on the internet that one can hack an IBM PC box to run leopard.
If this can be done then I can use Apple's SDK and develop normally.
Please let me know the minimum powerful CPU that I would need for running the hack in terms of processor type (Intel Pentium / Core 2 Duo or AMD) and the minimum required clocking rate for me to be able to run leopard.
I have a pentium 1.8 Ghz and an AMD X3 Phenom machine under my possession.
Thanks for the help

its not really based on "how fast/powerful" your configuration is, but more based on what components you have. there are various leopard hacks out there (i'm pretty sure i can't name them here though) and each one has a compatibility list. google "leopard on pc" or something of the likes and see what you come up with. send me a PM if you need some more info... ;)

There are several groups working on making Leopard work on non mac intel machines, but you will find that there are very few hardware configurations that make all features function properly and with any kind of stability. If you are really serious about iphone development, your best bet is to actually buy a mac. If you are on a budget, there is the mac mini for a desktop and the standard white macbook for a laptop. If running Windows is a necessity for you (like it is for me) you can always use bootcamp, vmware, or parallels to accomplish this. Bootcamp has worked flawlessly for me and I dont regret making the jump from the pc platform at all, and I use my mac to run Windows XP all week long for my primary job. If you however still want to try the pc way, you may also want to try googling the word "hackintosh". Hopefully you will find my post helpful. Good luck.

The latest issue of Maximum PC (June 2009) shows how to build a Hackintosh. Go to the magazine store and check it out.

While you might have the fun of building it yourself, you still have to buy particular pieces of hardware, such as particular motherboards and graphics cards for which drivers exist, and in particular a dongle that plugs into a USB port which makes Leopard think it's running on a Mac (so you can upgrade Leopard). But when you're done, have you not already bought a MacMini at least?

I've refurbished countless PCs and know them inside and out, and I'm amazed that even with my own super-duper custom-built (quiet as possible) PC running at 3Ghz, my iMac makes no noise, and video plays back effortlessly and does not stutter like it does on my super graphics card on the PC (which when doing heavy graphics sounds like a vacuum cleaner), and on and on.

Find a way to get a Mac and just be done with it and move on to more important things.

Mark
